What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy uses the concepts of psychology as a therapeutic tool and Jackie applies this to explore and redefine your beliefs about yourself and create an acceptance of your own personality and sense of self. Together with you she will create a safe space in which you can share your problems and work towards an understanding of your current expectations, perceptions, and restrictive patterns of behaviour and how the past influences the present. Once an understanding and awareness of why you feel a certain way is reached, then a great deal of healing can take place. This will also help facilitate the changes that are necessary to resolve your issues and grow into the person that you have always been, but were too scared to be.
Jackie’s approach and methods include elements of Freud, Jung, Gestalt, Maslow and Rogers, along with the humanistic therapy belief that everyone has the unique potential for personal growth and self-actualisation and each person is good and has innate worth.
Psychotherapy can offer help with a range of emotional problems including anxiety and stress, low self-esteem, phobias, depression, abuse, bereavement, eating disorders, sexual issues, relationship breakdown and redundancy.
